Thank God It's Friday #13
Netflix Live to 100, Mamma Mia Shower Curtain Hack, Packing Cubes & More..
Not that I’m superstitious but I really don’t like writing Friday #13 but perhaps I should turn it on it’s head and say lucky for some.
Actually it is lucky for me today as it’s my husband’s 60th birthday. We’ve got a full on celebratory weekend and then we are off to Lisbon for 5 days on Monday 🥂
SHOPPING 👗 Remember this dress I bought last week thinking it looked perfect for the trip? I looked like a sack of potatoes in it!! I have plenty of dresses though so it’s no big loss.
It’s been a super busy week trying to fit everything work related into 4 days so I could put my Out Of Office on last night but here’s my best shot this week at my culture and curiosity links roundup.
READING 🤓 “Here is a bizarre business reality. Just at the point where the talented middle-aged woman is ready to step into a more powerful position in the workplace, she quits. They’re calling it the silent revolution. The so-called ‘glass ceiling’ becomes welded steel as the older woman nudges into power. This is the point that gendered ageism really flourishes, that is, a prejudice against the middle-aged woman, who is neither young, nor male, and who might just threaten the power structure.” Sound familiar? Great piece via Noon.
Women should plan for a second retirement according to Forbes.com.
A great read yesterday morning right here on Substack too from
about the 80th Venice Film Festival and the men that continue to be held in esteem - ‘because art. Also because patriarchy.’STREAMING 🍿 Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones on Netflix. I saw someone recommend this on Linkedin so I’ve saved to watch. I’m intrigued.
🍆 More Than 90% Of Women Surveyed Received Sexual Advances On LinkedIn. Yes even that most professional of social media platforms.
SAVING FOR LATER 📌 Saw someone on Facebook use a Mamma Mia shower curtain and some fairy lights to create a cute little corner in their garden and thought how cute so I saved for future reference.
Found these on Amazon .. future project incoming do you think? 🤔
Would you?

BINGING 👀 Yellowstone - I never usually like TV or movies about cowboys but this is so much more. Scores 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. I’ve been watching for a few weeks and I’m up to Season 4. British actress, Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton is the star of the show IMO.
“Beth drives a Mercedes and bulk-orders from Gucci and is an expert in mergers and acquisitions.”
and described as,
“The mercurial Beth Dutton evinces the ruthless clarity of a woman in a man’s world.”
Find a great write up on Atlantic.
Yellowstone has four spin-offs, prequel and sequel shows. 1883 and 1923 are prequel shows set generations before Yellowstone, whereas 6666 is a spin-off show set at the same time as Yellowstone. An untitled sequel series is also set to debut in December 2023 with Matthew McConaughey expected to star.
VACAY 🛫 Finally succumbed to packing cubes as we are only taking carry on cases to Lisbon next week. It feels like a test!! 🙈 I’ll let you know how I get on.
No Substacking next week because did I tell you I’ll be in Lisbon? 😆
Have a great week!
Ciao for now, Sharon xo
