Maybe it’s a quiet YAY and I really shouldn’t have put that exclamation mark there.
Strictly, I haven’t been anywhere but I needed to spend some time prioritising things in my life and getting properly back on track.
For those who followed my original blog and Instagram you’ll probably remember I’ve had a very challenging menopause journey the last 5-6 years.
The outcome of this was the pathway to an ADHD diagnosis which is still ongoing. It’s complicated. I will share more about this later but I’m still coming to terms with a load of stuff as you can imagine.
My youngest son was diagnosed with a chronic illness. He’d been ill for some time since finishing his degree.
My brother, my only sibling took his own life in November 2022.
A fuckcluster, basically. That’s what I’m calling it.
The perfect storm only not perfect. Far from it.
It all sort of imploded in one go because everything just kept coming one thing after another.
My mental and physical health has taken an absolute bashing. Thank god for the support of amazing people around me especially my husband.
It’s sink or swim when life throws lemons at you, isn’t it? Can you swim in lemonade? Ha!
For about the last 6 months I’ve been prioritising things that are important to me. Getting my business back on track, closing down a not for profits company, doing work on myself around boundary setting, taking more time to relax and plan out what I wanted next.
One of the things that really stood out for me is my love of writing and community so I knew I would find my way back here.
I’ve really learned how resilient and strong I am …. SUPER RESILIENT. Oh, and that it’s also ok to know that 💩 takes time to deal with. Bouncing back can take as long as you need it to. Don’t let anyone give you a timeline for your recovery.
So what’s next here now?
I am a bit stuck on my thoughts on writing on Substack versus on my Wordpress blog. I’m glad I decided to maintain my blog and keep it live. Glad I didn’t import all my posts over here.
I think I’ll write about that another day and maybe I can get some feedback from the Substack writing community.
Enjoy the rest of the week!
Ciao for now,
Sharon xo
