Faffing Friday Edition #23
The Substance gore, Nice Bum, Older & Bolder Fun, best sex toys, midlife lust era and much more ...
My Faffing Friday ‘Stacks are basically a curation of my week - what I’ve been doing, reading, watching, scrolling, eating, buying.
All archives here.
Can someone tell me how these Fridays spin around so quickly? And we’ve landed on a particularly gloomy end to the week, haven’t we? The week that was the worst outcome for our American friends.
It’s hard to think what those who voted for DT think they are going to get from him in the next 4 years.
How is it that a country that the rest of the world used to look up to ends up with someone like him as their Head of State?
I’ve been trying not to dwell on it and I don’t even live in he US but I know it signifies so much uncertainty for women and marginalised communities .. sad and frightening times.
STREAMING 🍿 I decided I would start watching some of my spooky list I mentioned in Faffing Friday The Spooky Edition. First off the list we watched The Substance with Demi Moore. It’s gruesome - there were two parts where I had to look away and it takes a lot for me to do that. It’s a dark satire about aging and society's beauty ideals so highly relevant for me as my Ted Talk touches on this subject. The ending is a bit too corny for my liking - not sure why they went there with it tbh.
It’s quite rare for a movie to leave a bad taste in my mouth but this did. It’s a hard to watch but a must watch if that makes sense.
SHOPPING 🛍️ Its been all about home this week. We’ve lived in our Victorian semi for 9 years now and 6 years ago we re-established a downstairs toilet.
It’s stayed in pretty good shape but we are giving it a lick of paint after all the work that we’ve had done in the kitchen and utility room. Almost done. Flooring gets fitted next week!! Anyway, I’m getting to the fact that I’ve bought some new fixtures for the loo. They are all from Next and I’m looking forward to giving the loo its little glow up.
FUN 🤩 I don’t usually watch day time telly but I decided to sit and spend 5 minutes with my mum and have a coffee on Wednesday morning. They only started chatting about the fabulous Dame Prue Leith who I raved about in Faffing Friday #17. And honestly, everything they were talking about was stuff I mentioned in my Ted Talk. I was shouting at the screen saying to mum .. that .. I mentioned that .. and that!! It was as if someone had had a peak at my script! Anyway, I found it so amusing I made a daft little reel for Instagram! You’ll need sound on to hear my Northern voice!
WEIRD 🥴 And there was this, too - This Morning viewers 'put off their breakfast' by 'seriously disgusting' way woman makes £10,000 week. It left me thinking it’s a perfect way for those of us in the depths of menopause. Sell our under boob sweat and make a killing!! Whose up for it?

Donald Trump’s Win Is A Reminder That Most Abusers Go Unpunished, They Can Even Make It To The White House - Chloe Laws who wrote this piece was actually one of the other Tedx speakers at the same ted event I delivered my Ted Talk .. small world. I love how she articulates.
I’m going in search of this red coat at the weekend. My current one that I love from M&S is flagging and I don’t want to be without a red one in my wardrobe. It fills me full of confidence to wear red.
That’s it for this week!

Lots of love,
I'm in the big plate camp. I just want a dinner sized plate with a decent sized portion placed in front of me. None of this trying to find space on your table for lots of little plates and bowls. Happy to share tapas in a tapas place because they are meant to be served on small plates, but keep them out of anywhere else. Can you imagine a Sunday roast on small plates or a Full English! I bet someone, somewhere serves it that way!
Getting a red coat was on my bucket list when I turned 50. At 65, it's still not been ticked off. I worry that I'll look like a cherry tomato in one!
Have a happy Friday Sharon xx
I left before the end of The Substance - just felt I’d seen enough ooze to last a lifetime 😂
