Get Your Happy Feet On: The Trainers Edit

Dopamine inducing colourful trainers to give you a serotonin boost

You probably don’t follow me for fashion but there are certain fashion items I can talk forever about. One of those topics is trainers. My trainer collection is small but perfectly formed.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love my trainers. They make me happy.

I don’t mean that I’m one of those people who queues up to buy the latest drop. I mean that I go all out to find the funkiest, most colourful ones that I can. Trainers that I know I’ll love and wear for ages. That give me a dopamine hit when I wear them.

I wear them with everything.

Take the ones I wore for my Tedx Talk last October. They weren’t new. I think they were about a year old at that point. They are Nike Air Force 1s and the neon pink colour is described as Fireberry. A search on eBay might bring them up from time to time. Neon colours are always my go to.

I love them and know I will wear them for many years yet.

I also have a pair of silver sequin Adidas ZX 4000’s that are about 4 maybe 5 years old now. I mean look at them. Again a search on Ebay or Vinted might throw a pair your way. I’ve seen them sell for about £150 now. I can remember waiting patiently checking Asos at the time to see if they went in the sale and they did! That’s always a result in itself, isn’t it?

Clearly, they aren’t everyone’s cup of char but honestly the amount of people who have complimented me on them I can’t count.

Same for the neon pink Nikes .. I’ve lost count.

I’m not on the market for new trainers but I do like having a look to see what catches my magpie like eye each season.

You cannot go wrong with adding a pop of colour or animal print to ANY outfit IMO.

TOP TIP: Don’t be restricted to just sticking to women’s sections, either when browsing, especially online. I’ve found some absolute icons in men’s sections before. One of my favourite places to shop for trainers is End. I’ve had some beauts over the years in their sales, too, for Mr B and my boys as well as me.

I mean, I’ve had to restrain myself from ‘adding these to basket’ while doing my research for this post!
