I’m writing this basically so I don’t ever forget it as I grow old and so that I can always look back on my journey.
A lot of my writing ever since I started doing this on the internet back in 2017 has been a kind of journal for me in many ways.
I never dreamed I would ever become a Tedx talker/speaker.
It just wasn’t on my radar. Ever.
I mean I’m not one yet. I have to deliver it but I started the journey several months ago and now it’s really REAL.
I’ve watched many Youtube videos and always been in awe. The Ted Talk topics are always so interesting. Many of the speakers memorise every word without any prompts.
That’s a triumph in itself. It will be the most testing thing for me, I reckon.
I wonder if everyone feels the same?
So where did this idea come from?
Last year I went to my very first Tedx event.
The inaugural Tedx Teesside Women event.
I loved every single second.
The energy in the room was palpable all day and was the topic of conversation on so many lips for weeks afterwards.
Driving change in action, right there on that day. The ripple effect I often talk about over at .
I mean look at them … how could you not be buzzing with this crowd?
I want to sing “High Energy” every time I think about it - still!
Tedx Teesside Women was brought to life by the powerhouse that is Michaela Reaney.
Michaela really is that perfect blend of someone who plants seeds and watches them bloom.
From the first moment I met her last year I was blown away by her passion and her ideas.
And so I manifested being in 2024’s line up.
I’m going to write up a whole post about manifestation because it’s been a thing since the start of the year for me. So .. more to come another day on that.
And so it was that late Friday afternoon on June 14th I was announced as the first speaker in the line up for Tedx Teesside Women.
It takes place in October so I have a fairly lengthy window of time to shit myself plan my talk out from the ideas I gave in my submission.
The ideas that won me a place!!!
Eeeekkkkk!!
I am SO excited.
When I look back at my younger self I didn’t have a voice.
In late midlife I found it and want to put it to good use.
Little older and bolder me from Teesside in North East England aged 61.

You can check out the other speakers as they are announced here - Sophia Ufy Ukor was announced on Friday at the same time as me. And the fabulous, Ben Pechey is the host again.
Oh and buy a ticket, too … I’d love you to come.
You will leave full of inspiration and love and warmth and positivity. That’s the effect it had on me and who knows it could make you fulfil a dream, too. 💗
