I’ve thought long and hard about whether I should add to the noise about Gregg {double g} Wallace but as a women of a certain age I’ve tried to hold back and CAN’T.
You see, from my own experience and that of my friends, we reach an age in life where we have nothing to lose any more and by this age we are just.so.damn.tired.of.it.all.
There are better writers than me who have written words this week to articulate how all women feel regardless of age so I thought I’d share a few that really nailed it for me.
First up Chloe Laws .. I’ve shared her work before.
She is a journalist, feminist and now a Tedx speaker, too. I shared the same stage as her in October at Tedx Teesside Women where she spoke about the Myth of Misandry. Give her talk a watch … it’s so interesting.
Every day is a school day.
I read her piece this morning for Stylist Magazine - “Gregg Wallace responding to allegations of inappropriate remarks and behaviour with misogyny proves how prevalent sexism is in our society”
I’d also recommend reading what
wrote - Middle-Aged Women Don't Want to Use Their Power To Harm You.And then there’s
‘calling out something I should have done in 2010’. She didn’t call it out back then because she was only 25 at the time but now she’s of that ‘certain age’ where she feels strong enough to share. How many of us could swap stories like this? What battle scars we all carry?
I’ll leave you with an excerpt from my own Tedx Talk:
Being bolder as we age means we can be the women
whose self-worth isn’t dependent on a man’s approval.
We can speak out.
We no longer have to pipe down.
Love & support always,
I was incensed too . I wrote about my experience over on the blog ( I will come across here when I get the hang of it ) I have spoken about it before very briefly in the past. But I’m like you I’m tired very tired if it all x
Thanks for sharing this Sharon. I will check out the other links too. I was like you, not sure whether to add my voice to the mix, but I couldn’t not do it.
