You might’ve heard claims that one is sold every minute in the US and that it’s gone viral on TikTok.
I bought it when it was first launched in the UK a couple of months ago for its introductory price of £19.99. I notice it’s now being sold at it’s regular price of £39.99.
It’s marketed as a ‘the power of 5 benefits in 1 serum’ which are:
Better Skin Texture
More Even-Looking Skin Tone
Firmer Feeling Skin
Smoother Visible Lines
Long Lasting Hydration
with active ingredients of Vitamin E, Niacinamide, Vitamin C, Collagen Peptide and Alpha Hydroxy Acid.
Sounds amazing doesn’t it?
I fell in love with the bottle. The flattened round shape of the glass bottle is very tactile and nice to hold if that’s your thing.
It didn’t smell of anything and consistency wise I liked how it felt. I did notice for some reason I seemed to use more than was usual with my other serums. It was ever so slightly runnier, so maybe that’s why I unintentionally used more each application.
I used it morning and night but still with a moisturiser. Not forgetting SPF in the day time.
For all the packing of punches it had been hyped with I found it very ordinary. Very much like a supermarket branded product. Something I’d expect Aldi to copy to be honest. I just don’t think it delivers anything to my 61 year old skin and therein lies the crux of the problem.
It’s probably the perfect solution for a much younger skin. I just wish these beauty conglomerates would be more transparent with who their products are really for instead of trying to be a catch all of everyone.
I mean guess the age of the model in their promo? 👇
I think it would work on her, for sure.
And then the likes of me just ends up being disappointed and then tend not to buy anything in a brand’s range ever again or at least not for a very long time.
Skin really changes a lot from 40+ years.
And that’s ok.
It does seem like there’s no in between, though of role models. There’s a chasm of role models. The next one is Helen Mirren for L’Oréal and while she looks fabulous she is 78.
Where’s the raft of skincare and beauty models 60-80 years?
I’ll hold that thought for another day 🤔
I definitely wouldn’t pay the regular price of £39.99.
I’d rather put my pennies towards something a bit more targeted to my skin. If you don’t take my word and want to try it for yourself then you’ll find it here.
Ciao for now,
I use and like Olay products. When there’s a new wonder serum launched, I usually wait to see if it’s lived up to all the hype by reading reviews, from paying customers, like yourself. This sounds good though it's a little pricey for me. The models chosen for most campaigns now seem to be either stereotypical which is infuriating, or noticeably young. This girl only looks around twelve! It’ll never change. x
Oh it’s so disappointing when we find a product doesn’t live up to the buzz for us! 🫤 I haven’t tried this, but have likewise heard great things about it. And Olay has such a great track record for bringing hi tech ingredients and innovations to high street skin care. Thanks for sharing your verdict with us (and your thoughts on bridging the marketing age gap in ads). XX
