We went to Osaka and Kyoto and were fascinated by both. If you're up for a bit of cycling we did bike tours in both cities and loved the opportunity they gave us to cover more ground and to see places off the beaten track with fantastic guides.

I'm expecting to be continually fascinated and awestruck the whole time, Jacqui. Will bear the cycling tip in mind .. thanks.

And just to clarify my husband is a non-cyclist normally and he loved the tours too so they're not incredibly physically demanding. You can also combine a food tour with them. 😎

That helps, definitely. My husband used to cycle a lot all over the UK with his friends raising money for charities but since several knee surgeries and one not such a good outcome he finds cycling difficult which really frustrates him.

I can’t wait to see your adventures in Japan. I would love to go but we always end up in Australia for long haul holidays with so much family over there. We have been told it is an amazing country to visit. Turning Japanese has to be on your playlist! My son is a big fan of Japanese Artist Masayoshi Takanaka, might be worth exploring for your playlist. x

Turning Japanese was the first one on it! Not obvious at all 😆 Will check out Masayoshi Takanaka. I've never been to Australia either and Mr B does have family there, too. Cousins. He's never been fussed about going but never say never!

Wow, what an exciting trip. I’m sure you’ll both have a fabulous time. Sorry no recommendations as I’ve never been to Japan but definitely agree, do all of your long haul trips in your 60s and early 70s before you start your ‘nana’ trips!

Thanks Janice! I had to read twice as I thought you said ‘nana’ naps & thought plenty of time to sleep while we’re in the air 😆
