TGIF: What's got my attention this week #3
And just like that .... it’s all over. Like all big shindigs with months of prep but now over in the blink of an eye.

Gotta say, I loved everything about ‘the Corra’ even though I’m up for slimming the monarchy right down possibly even to zero. I can’t believe I’m saying this. Never thought I would but times are changing. Not that I have anything against the Royal Family - well that’s not strictly true, either. It’s just it all seems a tad old fashioned.
My husband and I { no pun intended } both looked at each other as we watched the telly and said at more or less the same time to each other that it all feels a bit twee now the Queen has gone.
I know there’s not a better sight than seeing the swish of the horse’s manes as they clip-pity clop down the Mall but surely we could still retain some of this ceremony without so much pomp?
And wouldn’t it have softened our hearts towards Queen Cam a bit more if they’d offered to foot some of the bill from their gigantic purse?
I did feel emotionally invested though as I watched. I love the symbolic nods to all the historical meaning in ceremonies like this.
And the fashion? Oh darlings wasn’t it all fabulous?
My best look of the day was Penny Mordant. I know I’m not alone in this choice.
It was claimed that she took painkillers before carrying sword. I mean hell yeah who would blame her? Wonder woman personified. Carrying that 17th Century Sword of State and Jewelled Sword of Offering for more than an hour. What a woman. And the first woman to ever do it. She looked like some sort of mythical, all powerful, all seeing high priestess. Impressive.
Oh and do share what you think of this headline?
Women-only housing for Britain’s new class of handmaids. Planning permission for London’s first ‘women only’ apartment block feels and sounds a bit cringey, Surely it’s potentially making women more vulnerable in many respects by inviting them to live like this? But really this quote from the article says it all,
“There is no region in England where a single woman on an average woman’s salary can afford to rent a private-sector home of her own.”
Yes, women don’t earn enough to rent or buy for themselves. That old chestnut. Let’s not sugar coat this never ending insult that’s thrown at us.
Back curating HRT news again this week, too.
This particular story in the Irish Times reminded me of my when my own search for oestrogen made BBC Breakfast News!
“We push back aggressively about misinformation about vaccine safety when it comes to Covid or the MMR vaccine. But there’s no such collective effort to set the record straight about HRT. A generation of women missed out on potentially life-enhancing treatment because of flawed science and sensationalist media coverage, and they deserve answers.”
The article also talks about the grip the Catholic Church has on the Irish healthcare system and particularly where women’s health is concerned.
I tie in nicely with banning royals and religion this week, don’t I?
Oh and if like me you love the picture of the AI generated ‘Coronation After Party’ at the top of the page you can check out more by the Australian company that created them; Start Digital.
Like many people I’m currently fascinated by all the AI buzz and we’ve dabbled a bit in our web design business but this is absolute stand out.
Wouldn’t you want to be a fly on the while at this bit of a do? I would:
