Just this morning at a work related coffee and catch up I got it again. That compliment ‘I adore’. Couldn’t help that one .. J’adore
“You smell lovely.”
I love it. Always sets me up and makes me feel good.
I like to smell good for me but it’s lush when someone else notices your waftings.
I like my fragrance to stand out.
My signature scents are very much sort of … ‘hello, I’m here!’
I was that 80’s girl who practically bathed in Dior Poison. Don’t judge me!
I’ve just had a quick look at the Dior website and I see it’s still available in all it’s glory but now called ‘Hypnotic Poison.’
Great name. I think I might’ve hypnotised a few people in the past.
I can also remember when I was a little girl sneaking my nan’s Yardley’s Freesia. Secretly she knew I was doing it and now again would catch me and advise me not to go over the top with how much I dowsed myself in it . I was the same with the talc.
I remember the clouds of white dust puffing up in the air around me. I always went overboard.
What a throwback.
She’d remind me ‘if you can smell it yourself you’ve got too much on.’
Even back then I thought what’s the point in that? The pleasure should be for me not someone else.
Nan progressed onto Estée Lauder Youth Dew and my ‘obsession’ was born. Not the CK Obsession. I never liked that.

I’ve always loved having a signature scent or two in my fragrance wardrobe. I like heady, musky types although I do sometimes wander into florals in the Summer.
Here’s a few from my current collection.
Spot anything you recognise?
And talking about the 80’s earlier anyone remember Giorgio Beverly Hills and it’s iconic yellow and white striped packaging?
I bought it for the free beach towel which lasted until very recently. It travelled widely. I did have a bit of a penchant for this one. It was a weirdo though. Smelt very manufactured. Didn’t stop me and my ritual dowsing.
It reminded me of holidays, palm trees, turquoise sea, cocktails and Club Tropicana blasting out of the ghetto blaster. LOL.
These days I get a similar fix from Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess.
It’s got to be said they’ve all lasted the journey. Being able to buy them still must be testament to that fact that a lot of us love a good strong phwoar of a smell.
My current fragrance fixation is Floral Street’s Black Lotus.
I get complimented so much when I wear this.
What about you? What’s your ‘you smell good’ go to? Do you give a compliment when you think someone smells good?
Taking the compliment is a whole other conversation though, isn’t it?
Why do we find that so difficult?
Ciao for now xo
