Faffing Friday Edition #9
A bargainous designer dress, sequin trainers, Mary Portas & that Bridgerton throuple
This is just me to you - sharing what I’ve been faffing around doing/reading/buying on the internet this week.
This is an affiliate free zone. I thought you might like to know that.
I’ve got to be honest I could probably class this past week almost a faff free zone.
I have been so busy people-ing.
LIFE 🛟 I’ve been hanging out in the wonderful Northern city of Leeds all week attending the Yorkshire Sustainability Festival. It was mostly related to work but was a whole lot of fun, too.
I got to listen to Mary Portas give the keynote speech on Tuesday morning. We eyed each others choice of footwear up as I happened to stand next to her in a corridor while she was waiting to go on stage. She had on a fabulous pair of wooden wedges and I had on my equally fabulous Adidas sequin trainers.
It was like a shoe standoff 😜
I’ve had these for about 4 years now but they do pop up occasionally on eBay. There is a UK size 4 available atm for £139.99 .. any takers?
PODCASTS 🎙️ There was also a live podcast recording of Jon Richardson and The Futurenauts at the end of Day 1 of the festival which was very, very entertaining.
I’m not much into podcasts so if I listen to one it’s really rare. I have a bit of a problem in that I find it really, really difficult to listen to things like podcasts and music. It seems most people find it a realy easy and relaxing thing to do but not me. It makes me a bit sad, too.
One podcast I have been trying to listen to though is one I was invited on to as a guest .. of course .. You Are Not Invisible After 50.
My episode called ‘One Byte At A Time’ is part of Season 6. Kiran Kumar who is the brains behind the brand has interviewed some amazing women since she began the podcast and I felt really honoured she wanted to include me.
She is a woman after my own heart; celebrating age, wisdom and female empowerment.
SHOPPING 🛍️ I was at a lunch event recently and I complimented someone on their colourful and stylish choice of dress. The colours were a bit of me. I didn’t know the brand name or where it was from but just like that how our phones listen to us … errrr yeah .. the very next day up it pops in an ad while I was faffing around on Instagram.
I opted for click and collect and it has arrived in my local Sainsburys store while I’ve been away this week. I’ll be dropping by later today to pick it up.
Hopefully it looks as good on me as it did on Max and I’ll be over the moon with my bargain won’t I at £20.02?
SOCIAL MEDIA 💬 While we’re mentioning Instagram I’ve said many times both here and on Insta itself about how it’s losing the shine for me.
shares how she feels and every time I read another post like this it resonates so much with me.How are you feeling about Instagram and social media in general? I’d love to know in the comments.
STREAMING 🍿 I finished watching the rest of Bridgerton at the weekend and was pleasantly surprised how much more this season it seemed to tap into the comparison of social norms between Regency England and England Now.
Unless I’m more aware of it now than in the previous two seasons but the thread of women being invisible and their husband’s property is expertly woven through the story line.
And SPOILER ALERT … that throuple —- eeeh close your eyes, kids 🙈
That’s what our parents would’ve said back in the day when something a bit risqué came on the telly. No , actually it was more of a clearing of the throat and a “come on it’s time for bed!”
That’s all I managed this week that and the latest episode of The Kardashians but couldn’t keep my eyes open for longer than 5 minutes after hitting the hay. Getting back from festival-ing and networking drinks each day and I was cream crackered.
And so dear readers that’s it from the Faff this week.
Ciao for now,

I’m massively appreciative of any support because writing this really is my jam 😊
I enjoy your content more and more Sharon. Thank you. I click through quite a bit which is always a good sign. You are telling me things I don't know... Not to suggest I thought I knew everything... More that I am finding your content useful. 💕🤠
Thank you so much Sharon for referencing my Falling out of love with Instagram post in this weeks post 😊
It definitely seems like I’m not alone!
