Faffing Friday Edition #12
Most of this past week's faffing was done laid in bed or on the sofa 🛋️ 🛌 🤒
If you read yesterday’s post you’ll know the reason for the distinct lack of faffing posts.
I lost a subscriber but hey ho only 1 from the 200 that have read it so far so maybe me being frank about my mental health isn’t that scary after all.
Faffing Friday is as usual an affiliate free zone just fun and useful links and recs to stuff I’ve discovered IRL and on the internet this week.
Up until last Sunday the sum of my faffing was done first from my bed and then from the living room sofa.
STREAMING 🍿 A lot of watching of TV has been involved while I’ve been a dying duck and so I urge you to watch I LOVE DICK. If you want to choke with laughter then maybe not such a good idea when you have a hacking cough and forever on the verge of another asthma attack 😂 I had to put Tena pants on the weekly shopping list. It’s hilarious and strangely erotic at the same time.
I’ve never seen quite anything like it.
It’s a story of obsession and sex from the female perspective. I’ve got to say I never had Kevin Bacon down as sexy but I think I’ve been turned…. slightly.
Kathryn Hahn is superb.
‘My voice is the conductor of my life.’
I watched Celine’s documentary while I was bed/couch surfing. The one about her illness and her fight back to singing on stage again. What a powerhouse of a woman. And then she goes and does what she does at the Olympics Opening Ceremony. Bloody brilliant!
2024 PARIS OLYMPICS 🥇 While we’re talking about Celine’s performance I couldn’t have timed a chest infection any better could I? At least lots to watch on telly right now. I am amazed at what athletes can do with their bodies. The swimming and the diving … WOW!!! And how interesting to discover some of the oldest Olympians taking part? Age doesn’t deter these people.
OLDPRENEURS 👵🏻 Research from accountancy tech provider Sage shows entrepreneurs over 50 — dubbed “oldpreneurs” — now make up 47 per cent of the UK’s sole traders.
SKINCARE 🌸🧴I purchased a skincare edit box off the back of an influencer’s Instagram ad. I don’t usually do this as I’ve said before it’s no use purchasing stuff for 50-60+ skin that 20 and 30 somethings are raving about. But it included one of my all time favourite products from Medik 8. I’d just topped up and paid almost £60 for this before I went to Majorca. I got that and four other fabulous items for £29.99!!
I’ll write about it soon.
SHOPPING 🛍️ The perfect red pouchette of a bag is my sale purchase bought online from Cos. I bought the large version at the beginning of the year in cobalt blue and love it. Sold out now so no point in linking but just wanted to share the cuteness overload with you. At time of writing there looks like an influx of Autumnal colours on the website. They obviously are onto something with what now seems to be iconic in the land of high street designer bags.
It’s me with the blue bag!!
COFFEE & REAL SHOPS ☕️ 🛍️On Wednesday Mum said I could do with some fresh air since I had progressed from sick bed to couch so we went out for a coffee and a croissant. While out I bought these….
I can’t find them online but if you are looking for something similar then a trip to a real Next store might be worth it. In fairness, they weren’t an impulse purchase as I had some red ballet style flats written in my notes on my phone to remind me to look out for them. I’d seen a pair online at Zara earlier in the season and dallied about too much and missed them. So this spot felt meant to be.
I flaked back out on the sofa as soon as I got home. Too much too soon.
What I did hate about the real shops was all the Autumn colours and styles at the front just when our British summer has finally landed. Yes that old chestnut or maybe pumpkin 🎃
If you watch nothing else this weekend spend 2.25 minutes watching ‘Never Just A Period’ a new campaign from Bodyform. I practically fist pumped the air insert {machismo style} here when I watched this.
Isn’t it amazing that normal stuff is now so openly talked about? It makes me feel quite emotional that girls now get to see and hear a totally different narrative around their normal bodily functions than my generation did. About time.
“We’re so often misled, dismissed, minimised. What we’re told to expect doesn’t match up to what it’s actually like. If you’ve ever been surprised by your own body, if you’ve ever wished you had more answers, if you’ve ever been told it’s “just a period”, this film’s for you.”
And that’s it for this week Faffers. As much as I can muster. I hope you’ve enjoyed my roundup.
I was meant to have lunch with a friend today but sadly I’ve had to re-arrange. I do think I’m on the mend, though 🤞
Ciao for now,
