This week has been an extra, extra faffing week in real life. Although, my week did start off crap it progressively got a whole lot better. That’s life though isn’t it?
I was invited down to London to shoot some video content with Kollo Health. I’ve been using their collagen supplements for a while now and really rate them. I’m going to write a separate piece about it soon as the way in which they’ve helped me is in a way I never expected.
They booked me a trendy hotel at The Hoxton in Shepherds Bush right over the road from Westfield shopping centre .. and I never went in. Mr B couldn’t believe it when i told him but I had a jam packed agenda and wanted to spend as much time as possible with people not things. Who even am I? 😆
Filming took place at Soho Works based in Television Centre .. an iconic location. It used to be the historic HQ of the BBC before it relocated to Manchester in 2012.
I travelled down on Weds and used the evening to catch up with my friend, Tracey.
I’m so glad we did because we had a really lovely time like we always do.
We had some drinks and pizza at Mercato Mayfair. You must go if you ever get chance. It’s a deconsecrated church just off Oxford Street.
Then Tracey took me to one of her favourite places, 108 Brasserie In Marylebone.
Here we are …
And what a small world .. we bumped into Jane who is on here. My friend, Tracey knows her and her friend, Genevieve who she was with. We had a quick chat on the street about how much we’re both loving writing here on Substack and getting to know people. We agreed we are a bit bored now with Instagram and want everyone we know from IG to come join us here!
We should’ve took a photo of that too!! I mean what were the chances of that?
At the Kollo shoot there was another friend who I met years ago because of blogging, Lisa who writes . Honestly, I’ve had a proper reunion going on with my London friends .. it was lovely.
More on my Kollo adventure in a Stack soon.
My Faffing Friday ‘Stacks/Newsletters/Posts whatever we are calling them are basically a curation of my week - what I’ve been doing, reading, watching, eating, buying IRL, curious about or on the interweb in the hope you’ll enjoy/find interesting too. All archives here.
STREAMING 🍿 I’m a big fan of Love Is Blind and so obviously I’ve binged the new UK version that dropped on Netflix this week. It’s insane. I love a bit of people watching like this. It won’t add any spoilers but I was drawn to it even more because the weddings take place at a gorgeous venue that is on my doorstep: Wynyard Hall.
MARRIAGE ⚭ and while on the subject of matrimony I’ve signed this UK petition this week - Drop the title - no more mandatory Miss/Mrs/Ms. I mean how much does that make sense?
SHOPPING 🛍️ I bought this black and white midi shirt dress and decided to take it to London. You can just see a hint of it in photos further up ⬆️ This is the third dress I’ve bought in the exact same style. I love everything about how easy it is to just throw on. I buy the large and I’m a UK 16-18. Washes brilliantly, easy to iron. The first blue and white polka dot one I bought a few years ago was £17.99 and so the price has increased to £21.99 but I mean … lol still a bargain to buy something so easy to wear on repeat.
I want to wear it next time with my red Adidas trainers. This time I wore with my black patent leather Arizona Birkenstocks. I bought them last year but they are still available here.
I bought some interior accessories in Mercato Mayfair. There is a branch of Nunhead Gardener in the entrance. Oh I tell you the smell as we entered was divine. I had to ask what the candle was that was burning and so of course I had to purchase. Will share more soon. Our house is upside down atm as work has just started on a new kitchen, utility room and flooring throughout. About 3 weeks worth of tradesmen coming and going apparently so I won’t be bringing anything new out just yet 😬
SAVE FOR LATER 🔗 In the current average human lifespan we get 4,000 of each day of the week: 4,000 Saturday nights, 4,000 lazy Sundays, 4,000 Monday mornings. WOW!!!
Age dominated by two rapid changes; one in our 40s and one in our 60s and how to prepare.
Baby boomers of which I am one {1963} being on the cusp of Gen X are redefining work in their 60s, 70s, and beyond with ‘unretirement’ plans: ‘not our grandparents’ vision of retirees’
And while we’re talking about unretiring .. fancy a job as cabin crew with easyJet? A recruitment drive aimed at the over 50s and people wanting to change their mind about retirement.
As I’ve been on trains and tubes this week this hit even harder - Violence against women on UK trains rises by 50% in two years. This issue has never gone away in my lifetime so I wonder when it ever will?
SUBSTACK UNIVERSE 🧡 a bit of news about this place ..
Substack now lets anyone publish posts, even if they don't have a newsletter and another useful read about the same thing - Substack has been increasingly turning the publishing platform into a social network
What do they say? C’mon in you’ll love it here! 🥂
🐭 HOT RODENT MEN SUMMER I mean, I had to finish with this because in between laughing out loud I was thinking WTAF? Who makes this stuff up? Any celebrity can be hot but only an elite few can pull off rodent hot. I dunno about you but judging by the list in the link I’m clearly partial to a hot rodent 🐭🤣 🐹
It’s a lovely long weekend with the Bank Holiday Monday for us in the UK - the last one of its kind before Christmas { yikes! I said that! 🙈} enjoy wherever you all are, Faffers 😘
As always, ciao for now and don’t forget …
Hitting the Like 💗 button and re-stacking is the most massive help in getting the word out on Substack about my Faffing Fridays.
ANNNNDDD .. I love conversations so the comments is good place to start a chat with me.
