Faffing Friday Edition #19
Life lately & my brain, Ted Talk pending, Menopause industry, the prettiest kettle & toaster, MAFS thoughts. biz awards - always eclectic faffing from me ☺️
This week I wasn’t going to write Faffing Friday.
I was going to write about ADHD and some of the ways it affects me. I feel pretty burned out atm. I’ve had to do a lot of people-ing this past week and it exhausts me. As much as I’ve had a great week it feels like my brain doesn’t agree and starts to slow me down and hold me back. But that’s definitely for another post.
While I’m on the subject of burn out, I haven’t had chance to watch the BBC documentary, Menopause Uncovered. I did, however, read this article by Davina McCall who states that she’s worried it will stop women trying HRT. It was and continues to be a lifesaver for me so I’d hate to see us going backwards out of fear.
If you haven’t already you can read about my journey here ⤵️
HOME 🏡 The kitchen and various bits of unplanned renovation work that cropped up are almost complete and we feel as if we are slowly getting back to normality and proper food!! It literally takes over your whole life, doesn’t it? We are really pleased with the result. We are just waiting for the flooring company now. I’ll share some pictures at some point.
I have purchased what I think is the prettiest blue kettle and toaster by De’Longhi from John Lewis. They arrived on Tuesday and I love them!
BUSINESS 🏆 I didn’t get chance in last week’s FF to tell you that on the Thursday evening I was at an awards event. I was shortlisted for a business women award locally where I live in Teesside in the category ‘Breaking the Mould’. I was nominated for the work I do in my biz around digital sustainability and also for how I speak up at every opportunity I get about gendered ageism and the inequalities that continue for women as we age. the subject of my pending Ted Talk btw!!!
I didn’t win but it was a great night surrounded by so many inspirational females. Here I am with my gorgeous friend, Sarah and then the lovely group I was sat with at the event.
I’ve also this week received 3 nominations in the 2025 Northern Power Women Awards. 'Disruptor for Good' and 'Person with Purpose' categories. For these awards you have to submit why you think you’ve been nominated. And it’s by midnight tonight. At the point of writing this { Thursday morning } I haven’t done it. It’s so difficult to big yourself up isn’t it? I can do it in the blink of an eye for others.
TED TALK 🗣️ I’m on imminent countdown now … 16th October. If you missed it you can read how I manifested it here ⤵️
STREAMING 🍿 I have so much to share with you about my Watch List but that will have to wait for another day. I’ve hardly watched anything because all of the above. I have though been hooked every night on the latest season of Married At First Sight UK.
You can catch everything up on their Instagram page.
I particularly felt for Charlie on Wednesday night’s show and that she should’ve had some support much earlier on. It wasn’t nice seeing someone that upset and scared no matter how good it is for TV that the producers clearly thought.
And that’s a big part of my week almost done and a busy weekend ahead, too.
I’d love to know in the comments what your week has been like?
My Faffing Friday ‘Stacks are basically a curation of my week - what I’ve been doing, reading, watching, eating, buying IRL or on the interweb.
All archives here.
Don’t forget if you could help me get the word out about BBED then please like, share with a friend, share in a Note on here, share on another platform; Facebook, Instagram stories .. everything helps 💗
See you next week x
Wow Sharon, what a week and AMAZING about the awards!! You look fab!!! 🤩👏 ✨ Can imagine you must be 😅after all that, and the ongoing reno’s - 🩵 the delonghi kettle and toaster set, hope you can get lots of use out of it this weekend making well deserved cuppas and toast!! Also SO exciting about the TED talk!!! 🥰
Wow, it does sound like you've had a busy week. I hope that you've got some 'me time' factored into the weekend. How exciting to be nominated for awards and to attend an an award ceremony. The last time that I was nominated for one was at primary school and I won! I still have my Ladybird book of ballet. My prize for my project on trees.
I love your new kettle and toaster. Aptly named ballerina as the design looks like the folds of a ballet skirt. xx
