I'm Just Over Here Trying To Capture Some September Summer Sunshine Vibes
A happy fragrance can help us with that. It certainly does for me.
It really felt like Autumn had landed yesterday in the part of the world where I live.
Meteorologically 1st September is Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.
That makes me so sad. Mostly, because where I live we haven’t had much sunshine. The sunny days we’ve had have been beautiful. We just haven’t had enough of them to really say we’ve had a decent Summer.
I know I’ve been very lucky that I’ve been able to escape on trips to Italy and Mallorca so I can’t really complain about not getting any Summer Sun.
Except I can and I am ðŸ˜
I absolutely love the changing seasons but I’m just not quite ready for pumpkin spice lattes and cinnamon infused diffusers just yet.
Instead, I’ll be wafting about smelling of Summer for as long as I can.
And here’s how I’ll be doing it.
You might remember I shared a budget summer fragrance discovery from Next a little while back in June.
Around the same time I purchased the M&S Summer Beauty Bag. You’ll find more details here about what was in it although it sold out months ago.
Usually there’s something in these edits that I don’t like/won’t use and that’s why I rarely buy into them but this time i did and I’ve used everything.
It’s been a firm winner for me.
There were two fragrances in the bag I was eager to try.
One was from the new M&S Discover library of fragrances. It’s called Sunrise - sadly also now sold out. It was light and fresh, a mixture of sweet and spicy with Jasmine, Bergamot and Sandalwood. A great combination. Best of all it was a 100ml bottle so perfect for travels. And best best of all it cost £6 when bought separately!!
I’ll be re-visiting the Discover collection for Autumn .. maybe the Spiced Amber for just £10 .. a no brainer fragrance try out… but like I said .. not yet.
The star of the show from me was the Floral Street Arizona Bloom Parfum. It’s the 10ml size that came in the M&S bag .. again perfect for travel allowances. I took this one to Mallorca and it lasted me the 5 nights I was there.
I’m not a newcomer to Floral Street as a brand. I’m onto I think my 3rd bottle of Black Lotus. I’m not sure how I discovered it originally a few years ago but it’s the kind of heady aroma that I get stopped about by strangers, I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been asked ‘what’s that perfume you’re wearing, it smells gorgeous?’
I like to smell good for me but I love it when people tell me I smell good, too. Don’t you?
I love a good strong musky, earthy, incense-y, church-y vibe kind of smell for Autumn/Winter and this nails it right on the money.
I surprised myself that I’d never tried anything else from Floral Street until this Summer.
I tell a lie .. I’ve succumbed to the Fireplace Candle a couple of years ago. Loved that, too.
So I’m glad that I got that travel size taster of Arizona Bloom in the M&S Summer Beauty Bag as it brought me right back to revisit the brand.
I’m oh so happy I did.
I’m actually singing ‘ Happy’ by Pharrell Williams in my head as I write this no.
Lets have a little bop together 😊 Monday Mood 😊
Arizona Bloom is one of those smells that I can’t quite put a finger on why I love spraying copious amounts of it all over me after my shower each morning. I wish they made this in a shower gel!!
It’s described as ‘a dry floral amber - freedom and happiness in a bottle... think endless skies and eternal sunshine.’
I can’t argue with that and it’s exactly why my September will be spent spraying a little sunshine and happiness around. Oh and I’ll be taking it on my travels in October, too.
The Black Lotus will have to wait patiently yet for a while.
The 50ml perfumes are £74. There is 15% off first orders. Orders over £50 are delivered free throughout the UK. International delivery is not available directly from he brand but it can be found online at Sephora and QVC.

Love this, am totally with you this wet Monday morning (wishing summer would hold on a little longer!) and YES to the Arizona Bloom!! You’re so right, it captures something indescribably summery - I put it down to the cocouniut note that’s in there, I think it brings back memories of 80s summers and factor 0 (🙈) sun oil from The Body Shop! So glad you got away to feel the sun 🌞 overseas this year, too!
