Faffing Friday #34 March 2025 Edition
Confetti glass homeware, day drinks, Aussie MAFS, travel adventures, always learning - everything this month has brought me
How fast has March whizzed by? We’re almost at the finish line and weather wise here in the UK some days there has been actual sun shining ☀️
Here we go then .. here’s my March Faffing - things I’ve enjoyed reading, watching, eating, drinking, shopping and doing - basically everything that’s brought me joy this month.
SHOPPING 💻 I love having daffodils in a vase on my kitchen worktop. They make me smile.
The candle and diffuser in my photo were something that I mentioned in February’s edition of Faffing Friday. I’d kept them in my shopping bag on the M&S website so long that they’d gone in the sale and for once I’d managed to nab a bargain. I usually ‘faff’ about that much deciding whether to buy something or not that I usually miss the opportunity. I bought the pink mix duo, too. I am not the early bird that usually catches the worm but this time I was.

They are now completely out of stock. So why am I telling you? Well, I think they are pretty and there seems to be a lot of this ‘confetti style’ homewares popping up. I’m also trying the pre scented type of diffuser for the first time. It’s interesting to discover how long the fragrance will last as this type seems to be popping up all over now.

Dunelm Blue Confetti Candle, Dunelm Pink Confetti Candle, Next White Hurricane Candle Holder, Habitat Pink Confetti Diffuser & Candle.
LEARNING 👩🏼🏫 The weekend of Friday 28th February through to Sunday March 2nd I started my journey into studying to become an EFT/Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner. It will take me until towards the end of the year to qualify. There’s a lot to learn and practice. I have a post coming up about it very soon as lots to share. I touched a little on my 2025 pivot here ⤵️
CELEBRATING 🎉It was Barney Boo’s 3rd birthday on March 10th. What do you give the dog who has everything? Here he is in all his glory relaxing in my office watching me work.
I also had a fabulous day out in Whitby, North Yorkshire celebrating a friend’s 62nd birthday. There were about 12 of us. It’s an annual thing for my friend. We all meet for breakfast first and then hop aboard the train at 10.30am which gets us to Whitby around midday. Drinks, lunch, drinks and back on the train at 7.30pm. It’s always a lot of fun. Here’s me .. it wasn’t even my birthday but I have to be in 😆
TRAVELLING 📍 We had a three night break in Glasgow mid month. It was our 33rd wedding anniversary and we like to mark the occasion whenever possible with a city break. My Travel Diaries are part of my paid subscribers VIP content but I’m keeping this one free for everyone until the end of the month so you can have a read.
Glasgow was a lot of fun! ⤵️
STREAMING & CINEMA 🍿 No cinema trips this month but as usual I have lots of telly to recommend.
I couldn’t do without what has been my almost daily dose of MAFS Australia. As usual there’s a lot of discussion online about it. It’s the ultimate people watching escapism even though I know it’s a highly filtered and edited version of what they get up to. You can catch it on Channel 4 in the UK. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Anything for me that is a 1920-30s costume drama will always get my vote from the get go so it was with enthusiasm that I watched BBC’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Beyond Zero. Loved it even if you knew how it was going to turn out before it did IYSWIM? ⭐️⭐️ and a half.
After all the fuss and the Oscar wins we decided to watch Anora. It’s worth a watch but I personally felt that it glamourises sexploitation. Of course, it’s through the lens of the male gaze as it seems like mostly that’s the only version of sex Hollywood can play. Mikey Madison’s strong performance holds it all together which is one of the reasons I guess she won. Catch it on Amazon Prime ⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you’ve loved watching Yellowstone over its five seasons you might enjoy 1923 which is its prequel starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. We’re onto Season 2 and I think I like it more than YS. We stream it on Paramount. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
And of course, like millions of others around the world we watched Netflix’s Adolescence. I shared my thoughts in a post, too ⤵️
READING 📖 I haven’t progressed very much on my reading target this month. I’ve been reading Circe by Madeline Miller.
You might remember I updated my Goodreads account at the start of the year and joined the reading challenge of 36 books throughout the year.
I’m almost finished, though. I enjoyed reading The Song of Achilles and I am enjoying reading Circe. I just think I’ve allowed watching MAFS to get in the way of my reading 🙈
SUBSTACK UNIVERSE 🧡 In the spirit of helping you discover more great Substacks, here’s some reads I’ve enjoyed this month ..
Rethinking Later Life Living: Could University-Based Communities Work in the UK? from
Waking Up on ADHD Drugs... from
Do I need a pension if the world's about to end? from
That’s a wrap .. enjoy your April!
Lots of love,
Agree with you on Anora, Sharon (glamorising sexploitation). The second half of the film drew me in, especially when good-hearted "goon" Igor brought more nuance to the story. But couldn't see why it won best film.
I'm glad I watched Adolescence early on, before reading much about it. It's a really good drama, first and foremost!
I started a goodreads account and set myself a challenge of x number of books to read this year. After a couple of weeks and a couple of books read and reviews written I closed the account. Why ? I felt like I was back at school/college with a reading list to complete within a set time. For me reading is about relaxing and pleasure , I’m an avid reader and read every day but I don’t want to have to feel that ‘pressure’ of having to complete a certain number of books within a year , much less write about them . I’ll probably read far more than the original target I set myself but who cares 😊
