Faffing Friday Edition #26
A beauty of an animal print dress, me in supermarket faux fur, the fashion of ageing, challenges of older women in the workplace + the best streaming recs ... every week.
My Faffing Friday ‘Stacks are basically a curation of my week - what I’ve been doing, reading, watching, scrolling, eating, buying.
All archives here.
I am proud of myself!
For someone with ADHD to write something consistently 26 times is epic.
I’m claiming this as one of my 2024 wins at life.
We have to celebrate where we can don’t we? Most of all I’m happy how many of you are coming here to read them so most of all it’s down to you that I’ve been able to show up and Faff on a Friday so thankyou from the bottom of my beating heart 💓
Lets get started.
SHOPPING 🛍️ I bought another dress! I wasn’t looking for it. It found me. I was searching one night for Christmas decorations and up it popped.
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you’ll probably see me in it at some point.
It was a bargain as I even got discount the night I purchased. I thought it’s going to be one of those where I’ll know as soon as I open the parcel I’m going to love it or loathe it and happily I LOVE it. I especially love the long tie back. What a bargain buy.
Studio Edit Purple Animal Print Satin Asymmetric Midi Dress
Remember the boots I mentioned in Faffing Friday Edition #25?
I’d wear them with this dress.
Oh and the coat I mentioned in that one, too? I love it. I took it on my festive jaunt to Edinburgh last week.
Here’s me wearing it .. I think Sainsburys/TU did good on this one.
We had the most amazing apartment in Edinburgh that I’m going to write up about next week. It’s too good not to share.
BEAUTY 💅🏻 I do love my gel nails. I’d go so far as to say much like a good set of brows { I get HD Brows every 8 weeks or so at my local salon} I don’t feel put together without them. I love the freshness that never fades. But like anything comes the pay off. It’s like your nails are never seeing daylight, isn’t it? Mine start to get flaky after a while. When I came back from Turkey in October I decided to go au naturel up until Christmas. I’ve been using this 2-in-1 soft blush, semi-sheer nude nail polish and brightening treatment by Leighton Denny and I really like it. It’s popular as it’s always in and out of stock. I’d definitely recommend.
My nail appointment is next Tuesday .. woo hoo!!
STREAMING 🍿 I do love a historical drama, don’t you?
I’ve had Season 1 of The Empress saved for ages in my watch list. It’s on Netflix. When I saw that Season 2 was out I thought I must make a start. I knew I’d enjoy it even though English is dubbed over the original German. It’s based on the true story of Empress Elisabeth of Austria and her relationship and life with Emperor Franz Joseph. I was particularly fascinated by how large an empire Austria was back in the day. I either never knew or maybe I had forgotten from my school days! Oh and how I love the costumes!!
CINEMA 🎬 Have you been to see Wicked? I can’t believe I haven’t yet. I’m taking my mum.
Let me know in the comments if you have and what you thought. I’d love to know.
SCROLLING 🔍 If you’ve got this far it’s a good idea to come back over the weekend as there’s always lots to read and digest in the recs ⤵
There’s been a lot written about GW this week and the ongoing fall out of his very bad woe is me Insta post. Heck, as I’m a women of a certain age I even joined in a bit myself and shared some great insights from other women- Middle Aged Women Are Exhausted.
Here’s another one form

I’m like a digital reader’s digest -with all my reading links I gather up for you each week. It’s no wonder I have a long to do list with all this faffing but really us women of a certain age are just so interesting, aren’t we?
